Mud & Glamour

After following their journal since shortly after they started I couldn’t pass up the chance to meet the Millers as they neared the end of their cross country ride. To make that happen we packed up our bike and headed to Coburg about 6:30 last Saturday morning. We parked at the Armitage County Park and started pedaling east on the TransAm. It’s a good thing I was curious enough to buy some ACA Maps a month or so ago otherwise the task would have been much harder.

The route generally followed the Mckenzie River though the hills weren’t as flat as the river. There were quite a few cyclists out riding as we started out. But none of them were carrying touring gear. After about 12 miles we saw a single touring rider and I thought “At least we’re on the right road.”

A bit past mile 16, as we were approaching an intersection, my stomach started growling. There appeared to a little store nearby so I turned the bike and pulled up in front of the store. Fay asked “Where are you going? The route goes that way.” I told here that I was hungry and besides “That’s their bike!” They had stopped at the same store and were inside picking up supplies. We went in and found them - well - Mud tells this part better in his journal entry. After introductions and a little chat we got back on the road and followed them back to Coburg.

Then after a good meal at Coburg Pizza Company. We went back to the RV park where they were camping and they took a spin on our bike. They seemed to enjoy it. They said it was like riding a La-z-boy. I don’t know; I sweat a lot more on the bike than I do in my recliner.

Fay and I enjoyed the day very much. Much more fun than working on the dining room floor. Thank you Mud & Glamour for letting us join you for a few hours and thanks again for sharing your journal.
